Winter Break Resources for Families and Students

Minneapolis Kids Non-School Day Care

Full-day care (6:30am-6pm) for days when school is not in session. Cost is $42.20/day. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Most sites have limited availability remaining. Minneapolis Kids is closed on 12/25, 12/26, 1/1 and 1/2.

Sites with availability 12/27-12/30:  Burroughs, Dowling, Hale, Kenny, Kenwood, Lake Harrier Lower, Lyndale, Marcy, Northrop, Webster and Windom

Sites with availability 1/3-1/5: Dowling, Hale, Kenwood, Marcy, Northrop, Webster and Windom

Please note: Field trips are often planned on non-school days. A signed permission slip is required for each trip. Children must be registered for the day at least two weeks in advance or a $5.00 per day late fee will be assessed. Minneapolis Public Schools does not provide bus transportation for students on non-school days or winter, spring and summer breaks. Parents must provide a bag lunch and beverage, unless otherwise noted.

Recreation Centers are open noon-9 pm on school release days. A list of school release day activities can be found here.

Drop-in programming for kids and families is available at locations throughout Minneapolis over winter break. A full list of upcoming events can be found here.

Meals and Snacks

The following community locations will be serving meals and snacks from 12/27 - 12/29 and snacks from 1/3 – 1/5 unless otherwise noted. Meals and snacks are no cost to any youth ages 18 and under. ID is not required. Meal and snack times for school release days are determined by the site.
